Swar Sagarika Music Circle has been initiated by a Group of vintage

Music – lovers who are striving hard to preserve and propagate the melodious songs of the yesteryears, by regularly organizing Musical Programs and events on stage, and thereby paying our respects and dues to the great legendary lyricists and music composers of the yesteryears, and also giving an opportunity to young singers to showcase their talent. This Group has been founded by Ms.Subhashini Sheopuri, a journalist and web-site writer, who is the daughter of the legendary Lyricist and poet of yesteryears, Late Shri Qamar Jalalabadi (real name Om Prakash Bhandari) who wrote lyrics for popular films like Howrah Bridge, Phagun, Chhalia, Pyase Panchhi, Pyar Ki Jeet, Badi Bahen, Rustom Sohrab and many more, but unfortunately spent the last years of his life in obscurity. There are so many great men like him who have been forgotten today by the nation, and Swar Sagarika is doing its best to preserve such Legendary Names and their great Works, and also applaud writers and composers of the present era who are still presenting good songs to the avid music lover. The Group has already organized 8 Musical Events in the year 2004 -2005.

The Organization is striving hard to bring back the lost melodies of the Golden Age of Music, the songs of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. That was a time when the best of poetry complimented the most scintillating compositions. There were some of the most prolific writers like Majrooh Sultanpuri, Saahir Ludhianvi, Shakeel Badayuni, Rajendra Krishan, Shailendra, and Qamar Jalalabadi etc. who spelt out magical lyrics with deep meaning. The Lyrics further took on mystical contours when highly polished and talented Composers like Anil Biswas, C.Ramchandra, Husanlal Bhagatram, Naushad, and S D Burman, Roshan, Madan Mohan, Shankar-Jaikishan, Khayyam, Kalyanji Anandji and many more Music maestros created mellifluous tunes to compliment the words. The final touch was added by the magical voices of great singers like, Mohd. Rafi, Mukesh, Talat Mehmood, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Mahendra Kapoor etc as well as Noorjahan, Shamshad Begum, Suraiya, Geeta Dutt, Lataji and Ashaji.In today’s Era and lifestyle the modern day listener has a penchant for Vintage songs.

The Organization is trying to accumulate music – lovers as members of the Music Circle. The Organization is also approaching Corporate Management and high profile Individuals to secure Sponsorship and moral support in order to carry on its functions. The act of preserving and presenting vintage songs requires Focus, Dedication and Perseverance. The Group comprises of media persons, singers, musicians, teachers, students and people from all walks of life, who are all willing to go the extra mile to fulfill the aims and purpose of the Organization. Our next Program is scheduled for January 2006, and is a musical Tribute to the ICON Music Composer of Today, the one and only R.D.BURMAN.
